The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. The SDGs were adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. There are 17 SDGs in total, which cover a wide range of social, economic, and environmental issues, including poverty, hunger, health, education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, and climate action, among others.

The 2030 deadline for achieving the SDGs represents a critical moment in human history. The world is facing numerous challenges, including poverty, inequality, conflict, environmental degradation, and climate change, which threaten to undermine progress and prosperity. To achieve the SDGs by 2030, it will require a sustained effort by governments, civil society, the private sector, and individuals to work together to create a better world.

To achieve the SDGs by 2030, a number of key actions are required. First, governments must ensure that their policies and actions are aligned with the SDGs and that they provide the necessary resources and support to achieve their targets. This includes prioritizing sustainable development in national budgets, strengthening institutions and systems, and creating enabling environments for investment in sustainable development.

Second, the private sector has a critical role to play in driving sustainable development. Companies can contribute to the SDGs through their operations, supply chains, and corporate social responsibility initiatives. They can also partner with governments and civil society organizations to drive progress on the SDGs.

Third, civil society organizations have an important role to play in advocating for the SDGs, raising awareness, and holding governments and companies accountable for their actions. They can also provide essential services, such as education and healthcare, and empower communities to participate in sustainable development.

Finally, individuals have a critical role to play in achieving the SDGs. Everyone can contribute to the SDGs through their daily actions, such as reducing their carbon footprint, eating sustainably, and advocating for the SDGs.
